I took the opportunity to grab some shots of the kids playing in the snow following the tremendous storm we had yesterday. Most of the year, I am not very fond of the hill that sits behind our house… especially during the summer when I have to cut it. But when it snows… its pretty cool! The kids and I made a little sled track… which turned out to kind of short but really fast. Then, Nikolay got the great idea of building a ramp at the base of the track. They all went down as singles (you can see images in the slide show below). Then, after a while, Corinne and Evan decided that they were going to come down together… they didn’t expect to face plant in the snow… too funny. They had an awesome time.
On a side note, Evan was getting a little tired of walking up the hill and wanted Corinne to carry him… Corinne wittingly replied with, “Hey… I gotta walk up too… you princess” Made me laugh!!!

While I was going though some of the images shot while doing some lighting tests… This image really caught my eye after noticing the Cross and the drum set in the background. It reminded me of Nikolay’s ambition to become a worship leader when he grows up.

Added texture – I think it might be on its way to becoming album art.

Bill and Whitney were a great couple to work with. They were married this past summer at the Brougher Chapel located on the campus of York College. The pre-ceremony images were shot at the Historic Yorktowne Hotel. Typically we are fortunate enough to shoot in some pretty decent weather… This day?… not the case at all. It rained most of the day, though it didn’t impact us too much before and during the ceremony, only at the reception. The tented reception was held at Whitney’s parents house (really beautiful house, I might add) which borders on the grounds of Heritage Hills Golf Resort. We had planned to do most of the photographs on the grounds.. however with the rain, we were forced inside. During the reception, the guest’s were given flip-flops to wear, to save their shoes from getting muddy… The last image says it all.
Meet Bill and Whitney!

I just had to post today’s “What the Duck” comic strip. I can totally relate!

The kids have been really taking photography seriously lately… Their skill levels have really improved. It’s pretty cool to go out and give them an “assignment”. The assignment for this time was to capture images with a shallow depth of field and by using “The Rule of Thirds”. I think they actually are catching on. The post work was done by yours truly, but at their direction.
The first stop was to a local play ground. It was very cold and windy, so we didn’t stay very long. Check out the first image in Corinne’s gallery. I thought it was pretty amazing (my biased opinion), not only because of the composition, but the contrast of the single flower emerging amongst the dormant grasses.
The next day, we headed to Pretty Boy Dam. It was much warmer this day. They were very intrigued by the dam…This being the first time they ever saw a dam so close. I actually had the opportunity to explain a little science and engineering about dams. They actually seemed interested… normally they mentally check out when I start talking science. After this, we stopped at Morris Meadows and saw a “drive by museum” and a herd of bison.

Last week, we spent a lovely afternoon with Dan and Ashley while taking their engagement photos and had such a good time! They were such an easy going couple… a real pleasure to work with. We started out at the Stewartstown Rail Station, then to a private farm and finished up at Hershel’s park.
Their wedding is going to be held at Riverdale Manor, in Lancaster PA. Historic Riverdale Manor is a perfect setting for wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate conferences and special events as well as galas. We are really looking forward to shooting there again! It is a awesome venue and their staff is excellent!
