The kids have been really taking photography seriously lately… Their skill levels have really improved. It’s pretty cool to go out and give them an “assignment”. The assignment for this time was to capture images with a shallow depth of field and by using “The Rule of Thirds”. I think they actually are catching on. The post work was done by yours truly, but at their direction.
The first stop was to a local play ground. It was very cold and windy, so we didn’t stay very long. Check out the first image in Corinne’s gallery. I thought it was pretty amazing (my biased opinion), not only because of the composition, but the contrast of the single flower emerging amongst the dormant grasses.
The next day, we headed to Pretty Boy Dam. It was much warmer this day. They were very intrigued by the dam…This being the first time they ever saw a dam so close. I actually had the opportunity to explain a little science and engineering about dams. They actually seemed interested… normally they mentally check out when I start talking science. After this, we stopped at Morris Meadows and saw a “drive by museum” and a herd of bison.
